The Five Functions of OeKB CSD

As a member of the capital market infrastructure we perform the five functions of Notary Services and Safekeeping, Securities Account Administration, Cash Account Administration, Settlement and Asset Servicing.

Securities Account Administration:

Securities Account Administration comprises all tasks of the core service providing and maintaining securities accounts at the top tier level (central maintenance service) listed under Section A (2) of the Annex to the CSDR.

Under this function we maintain securities accounts for credit institutions, investment firms, central securities depositories, central counterparties and special institutions.

Cash Account Administration:

The Cash Account Administration function comprises all tasks of the banking-type ancillary service listed under Section C lit. a of the Annex to the CSDR.

In this capacity we administer cash accounts in Euro and common currencies on behalf of our clients. The purpose of the cash accounts is limited to our activities as a CSD.

Settlement:

Settlement comprises all tasks of the core service operating a securities settlement system (settlement service) listed under Section A (3) of the Annex to the CSDR.

Under this function we process instructions (booking orders) placed by securities account and cash account holders.
In this context, we are a system as defined by Section 2 para. 2 of the Austrian Finality Act (Finalitätsgesetz).

Asset Servicing:

Asset Servicing comprises tasks of the non-banking-type ancillary service supporting the processing of corporate actions, including tax, general meetings and information services listed under Section B (2) lit. b of the Annex to the CSDR.

For securities which we hold and administers ourselves as Issuer CSD, we collect income for securities due and process corporate actions under this function.

Notary Services & Safekeeping:

Notary Services & Safekeeping comprises all tasks of the core service Initial recording of securities in a book-entry system (notary service) listed under Section A (1) of the Annex to Regulation (EU) No 909/2014 (CSDR).

Under this function we accept securities in order to hold and administer them as Issuer CSD. The accepted securities are held in our vault.
