Tokenisation and Central Bank Money at the Heart of Our Participant Meeting
How can tokenised securities be settled on a DLT-based capital market infrastructure together with central bank money, and what added value can this bring to the financial market? These questions were at the centre of our fully booked Participant Meeting and generated significant interest among participants.
Our keynote speaker, Gergely Koczan, Adviser at the European Central Bank, provided first-hand insights into the latest developments surrounding the Eurosystem's PONTES and APPIA initiatives. The focus was on connecting distributed ledger technology (DLT) to central bank money and the opportunities this creates for the further development of digital capital market infrastructures. In addition to regulatory updates and current market initiatives, we presented the results of our DELPHI DLT Use Case Pilot. As one of the first European DLT capital market projects connected to PONTES, the pilot provided valuable insights into the opportunities, requirements and next development steps for tokenised securities settlement.
During the subsequent high-level panel discussion, moderated by Nastassja Cernko, Hubertus Hecht, Radoslaw Ignatowicz, Christoly Biely and Petia Niederländer discussed the findings of the DELPHI DLT Use Case Pilot. The panel addressed a wide range of questions regarding the scope, current status and next steps of the project.
The strong interest and lively discussion once again demonstrated the growing importance of tokenisation, digital securities settlement and the integration of central bank money. Close cooperation between market participants, central banks and financial market infrastructures remains a key success factor in shaping the future of capital markets.
We would like to thank all speakers, panellists and guests for the engaging exchange and insightful discussions on the future of securities settlement.
